Cheers From Shiner!

If you are planning to make a day trip from Austin, San Antonio or surrounding areas, Shiner, Texas is a great option. The city of Shiner is known to be the "Cleanest Little City in Texas” and home of the Spoetzl Brewery which crafts the famous line of Shiner Beer. This beer is distributed in 49 states in the USA (except for Hawaii). The city's population is of 2,069 people, it only has 5 restaurants and 3 bars. It is a really small city and the main attraction is the brewery.

Spoetzl Brewery offers free tours and free beer samples from Monday to Friday. We took the tour and it was amazing to see a 106 year old brewery still working and expanding. The tour was very informative and the beer tasted awesome!
I tried Shiner's anniversary beer, called Birthday Beer for the first time. It is a chocolate stout that tastes like red velvet cake with vanilla frosting. If you like sweets you should definitely try it soon because it's only available for limited time.

I really enjoyed this small trip, it was a great day. AND don’t forget, always have a designated driver. For more information visit www.shiner.com.

Wurstfest

If you are or will be near New Braunfels, TX during the next week, you should definitely stop by Wurstfest! Every year this small German-influenced town, hosts a sausage festival, better known as Wurstfest. This unique and fun festival offers great food, live music, carnival rides & games, and German & domestic beer among other things.

This weekend I went and had a blast! I ate everything that I could; jalapeño and cheese sausage on a stick (a must!), fried pickles, roasted corn, German potatoes & beef sausage, pastries and frozen sangria (also a must!). I enjoyed all of this while taking pleasure in the live music and great atmosphere.

I totally recommend this festival. Bring your family and friends and enjoy a great time!

Wurstfest is open from
11:00 am – 12:30 am, and ends Sunday, November 16. For more information visit, wurstfest.com

Bike Ride to Mission San Jose

I have lived in San Antonio for almost 10 years now and never visited any of the missions, except for The Alamo.

I like to bike on the Mission Trails which runs along with the San Antonio River on the south side, passing through the Missions. I saw several signs directing to Mission San Jose, so I decided to explore.

I was wowed by its beauty, who could imagine? This hidden gem, known as the "Queen of the Missions", is the largest of the missions and was built in 1768. The architectural style is Spanish. It has a beautiful church which is currently in service and it is open to public.

The Missions were built to expand Spanish influences in the north of Mexico. They also served to introduce natives into the Spanish society and the catholic church.

It was a great adventure! If you like to bike and explore new things, I totally recommend this bike ride. Here are some pictures.
