Late Lunch Bites [Eat]

A photo posted by Treast (@treastblog) on

During work its easy to lose track of time, especially when you have so much going on. Yesterday was definitely one of those days, I could just feel the stress piling on. When I glanced at my watch and saw it was already 2:30 pm, I realized that I was starving! My friend and I decided to try out this new place in town called Grayze. We arrived just in time to catch their Mid-Day menu.
They have breakfast (7am-10a,m), lunch (11am-2pm), mid-day(2pm-6pm) and dinner menu (6pm-9pm).

We went crazy (don't judge) and literally ordered every item on the Mid-Day menu. This menu seems like a happy hour menu, which include tapas and drinks specials.

We ordered:

  • The Barbacoa Slider
  • The Confit Chiken Banh Mi Slider
  • Ma Frittes [grayze ketchup and aioli]
  • The Mac [gruyere, white cheddar, manchego, fontina, caramelized onions]
  • Baby Iceberg Chock Sally [iceberg, smoked blue cheese, bacon, grilled tomatoes and ranch goddess dressing]

To see complete menu visit: http://www.grayzeongrayson.com/menu.html

Everything was AMAZING, but my favorite was the Chicken Banh, the Ma Frittes and (of course!) the Sangria! I also really enjoyed the complementary sparkling water, so refreshing.

This is a great place that you need to try!

Graze is located at 521 E. Grayson st. It seems like this neighborhood is rapidly developing into a business district.

Cons.
If you are there for lunch during work, you can't drink all the delicious sangria. Bummer!

Skittles Infused Vodka [Drink]

Last weekend my boyfriend came back from Las Vegas with only 2 big bags of skittles as his total winnings. Both bags were opened so he put them in a cookie jar. Every time I saw the cookie jar the skittles will scream; "eat me", as I was eating them, I realized he had a big bottle of Vodka in the freezer and decided to make 2 small shots of our favorite flavors, strawberry and orange. I left them infuse for 24 hours. The following day we had strawberry and orange skittle vodka. We mixed it with some berry juice and the results were AMAZING! That day we found ourselves infusing all the flavors.
Now, I want to share with you guys how to infuse your own skittles Vodka in a few steps.

Ingredients:

  • Big bag of Skittles (14 Oz)
  • Big bottle of Vodka
  • Containers
  • Coffee Filters

Step 1
Separate Skittles by color and place them inside the containers.

Step 2.
Add 4 shots of Vodka to each container and shake, shake, shake Señora.

Step 3
Let them infuse for 24 hours. Since we only had 4 containers, we infused the sour apple and lemon together.

Step 4.
Filter them to remove gum (white paste). Use the coffee filters. Try to filter it twice.

Step 5.
Make a shot or drink and enjoy! I made a shot with the orange vodka and berry juice. I call it Berry Orange.

The Happiest Hour at Lüke [Eat]

Taking advantage that I had the day off, I decided to join the happy hour at Lüke. Lüke is a restaurant that offers French-German food with a touch of New Orleans flavor. It also offers a raw bar and patio.

This place was recommended by a close friend, because she loves oysters on the half shell. During happy hour oysters are half price, as well as other dishes and select wine, beer and drinks.

For starters we had half a dozen oysters on the half shell and half a dozen fried. The first time I had raw oysters, I didn’t enjoy it, but after preparing them with the condiments provided (horseradish, cocktail sauce, lime and a few drops of Tabasco sauce) the results were amazing!  We enjoyed it so much we ordered a dozen more to share.

I ordered half a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and the slider of the day, which was fried fish. It tasted delicious and it was just what I needed to compliment the wine and raw oysters.
I shared wine because I could not finish it alone. We had a splendid time and enjoyed the food as well as the drinks. This is a really great place to relax and relish in delicious drinks and food. I had the happiest hour!

Happy Hour is held from 3 to 6 pm every day, and on Tuesday’s it extends until 8 pm. [On Tuesday’s parking is free all over downtown San Antonio, thanks to Downtown Tuesday!]
Lüke is located downtown San Antonio Riverwalk, 125 E Houston St, San Antonio, TX 78205. To learn more about visit lukesanantonio.com
